Local food of Africa

Kenya and Tanzania are home to some flavoursome Swahili food which is native to this region. Their local cuisine is rich in protein which is mainly from different meats, however, vegetarian food can also be found here.

The Kenyan Stew, Nyama Choma (roasted meat), Matoke (banana plantain stew), Ugali (cornmeal dish) and Irio (mashed potatoes and peas) are must-haves for anyone who wants to experiment with the local food.
