Varanasi is so well known as a holy city that people often forget that this place is also a hub for finger licking Indian street food.
Street food forms an integral part of the Indian Culture. The food here is influenced by its people. Most of the food here is made in rich desi ghee (homemade butter).
WARNING: Those with a sensitive stomach may want to stay away from the street food. The Kachori Sabzi, Dahi Vada, Samosas, Thandai and Lassis that are found in almost every nook and corner of the city are out of the world. The meals here usually end with the famous ‘Benarasi paan’ which is a must try for the adventurous and curious foodie.
We’ve known of too many people coming away with a Delhi belly from eating street food, so we strongly recommend carrying mineral water and eating nothing raw.
