The local people of Rajasthan in their traditional outfit

Rajasthani’s are warm, friendly and affable people with a population of over six million. The language widely spoken here is Hindi. The Rajasthanis comprise of various different communities like Jats, Bhramans, and Rajputs etc., however, the Marwari’s dominate the rest in terms of number.

The people of Rajasthan are diverse with respect to religion however, are culturally very united. They are God fearing and nature loving people. The temples in Rajasthan date back to centuries ago. These temples have been maintained well because the locals are superstitious and believe that neglect will lead to ill health, bad luck and also to natural disasters and other calamities. The people here are fairly well educated with a literacy rate of about 60%, however, male literacy is far greater than female literacy.

Rajasthan is also known for people from different fields who have reached great heights. Irrfan Khan, who is one of the Indian cinema’s most valuable actor is from this state. He is also known for his brilliant work in movies like Life of Pi and Jurassic Park. Jamnalal Bajaj and Ghanshyam Das Birla, founders of the Bajaj and Birla industries respectively are from this state, and among India’s leading business tycoons.
